My Favorite Things: October 2012

Hey all,

I loooveeee October.  October is when it starts to get really nice and cold.  There is also football, halloween and so many more fall related things that I absolutely adore.

These are my favorite things for October.  I love the sparkly loafers as well as the Free People black tulip shirt.  They both will go great with anything. (I have a photo of the black shirt on a hanger down below because I didnt think this photo did it much justice). I thought I'd throw in "the Perks of Being a Wallflower" because it was a great book that I loved a lot and I needed a pop of color. :)

I really like candles too so I thought I would throw them in as well.

Woooo October!!!

Winter Wishlist

Hey guys,

The winter is a perfect time for accessorizing, thats why the best accessories are needed.  This winter I have fallen in love with a few accessories that are totally cool for the cold weather.

These glove-esq palm warmers that are quirky and easy to match with:

Hats have always been one of my favorite accessories and winter justs gives me a great excuse to wear them!

Though I dont really wear ear muffs, I've always thought they were so cool.  These are a pair I would sure be willing to invest in:

So long summer, hello winter!

My Favorite Things: September 2012

Hey guys,

These are my favorite things (more specifically, clothing) for the month! It is another one of those awkward transition months which is sometimes good but also quite annoying.  Quite annoying because you never know if you should be wearing pants or shorts, long sleeve or t shirt?

Anyway,

Weirdly enough, the oatmeal colored shirt and the aztec print shawl are old LF (the oatmeal one has about a million and one holes but I REFUSE to get rid of it), the perfume is Happ and Stahns and surprisingly has a year round type smell.  The converse are... converse and the faux plaid shirt is from Ruby and Jenna.  Lastly, the starry sweatshirt is Wildfox.

What are your favorite September clothes?

Fall/Winter Arm Party

Hey guys,

Sorry I havent been online in a while I've been super busy.
But I do have a nice arm party going on!

Thanks to iPhoto, my arm looks a tad orange in the second photo but that's alright.
Some of the bracelets are the same from the other arm party post, such as the bracelet on the far right and on the far left.  The far left Cartier bracelet just had a band change from blue to green.

Enjoy!

T

P.S. From left to right; Cartier, Alissa Michelle, ... (dont remember :/), Marina Ferr, friend made it for me

P.S.S. the Marina Ferr bracelet is a cutout of Manhattan!

DIY Fall-y Rope Bracelet

Hey guys,
Summer is coming to an end (tear tear) which means that certain accessories just arent useful or winter-y.  Things such as beach bags, corals/shells and a big summer staple: the fishermen's rope bracelet.  You know the one, it looks like this:

So I thought I would try to change up this bracelet by using the, what I call, cobra stitch.
1) You need to cut the string at a length where if you fold it in half it is slightly bigger than your wrist and make a standard knot towards the top but leaving space for a small loop. (as shown below)
2) Then take the right string and put it underneath the string in the middle.  Then take the left string and put it over the center string and under the right string, like so.

3) Do the same thing, but opposite (as in take the left string and put it under the center string and then take the right string and put it over the center string and under the left string)

4) Repeat these steps until your reach your desired length and tie all of the (four) strings together. (This will be the second part of your clasp).

I guess this is a pretty fall/summer thing but it was fun and easy to make. You can personalize yours by using RIT dye or making your own dye.  What I like to do is take spices or things with a vivid color and mix it into hot water then keep the bracelet in that mixture for as long as you like. But keep in mind that the color does fade out a bit.

DIY Slave Bracelet

Hey guys,

This is an awesome DIY for Fall and it is totally in trend this time of year: the Slave bracelet.

The slave bracelet is basically a ring and bracelet with a connecting cord/chain.  It is easy to make and easy to customize.

1) Start out by measuring your wrist and creating a simple chain bracelet, but give it a bit more room (not so it is falling off of your wrist)

2) Measure the size of the ring section by wrapping your chain around your middle finger, but similar to the bracelet section, give it a little more space.  This time it is ok if the ring falls off because it is loose.

3) Measure the space between your knuckle and your wrist and cut a chain a little bigger than that size.

4) Lastly, attach these two pieces with a jump ring and there you have it! Your very own slave bracelet!

Feel free to add a bead or gem to the middle part that joins the ring and the bracelet for an extra special look!

Shark Week Fashion

This week is SHARK WEEK (aka one of the best weeks of the year) where the Discovery Channel's shows are all about sharks.  Not only are sharks awesome to watch on the television, they are also pretty cool to see in fashion.

Like this tee shirt from the company Chaser:

It's totally cute but channels the inner shark. Another one of my absolute favorite shark-themed pieces is the Morn Creations shark backpack.

Any time of the year this backpack is perfect.

Happy Shark Week!

P.S. Either a chain bracelet or denim bracelet on the way! (If there is a preference please leave a comment or I will decide tomorrow)

My Favorite Things- August 2012

These are my August favorite things! The great part about my August favorite things is that they can be worn/used in Fall/Winter as well! The shorts would look great with a pair of tights and a casual tee as well as the tie-dye denim shirt would look great with a pair of leggings.

The shorts, tie dye denim shirt, wallet and platform sneakers are all from LF (60% off woo hoo!).  The Navy shirt is from an awesome company called Blondes Make Better T shirts.  The camera is from Urban Outfitters.  The bronze bracelet and necklace are both from Anthropology.  The cuff is Alisa Michelle and the buddah bracelet is from a friend.

Happy August!

My Arm Party

This is my current arm party going on but there are more bracelets invited. These are the ones I wear every day and barely take off, if ever. The purple and silver bracelet was made by a friend at camp three years ago.  The blue is Cartier that I got for a gift three years ago as well. My newest addition is the turquoise studded friendship bracelet my sister made for me. The red bracelet is from the company Tai. Lastly, the hairband is from I dont know where.

I hope this arm party grows!

Paris Throwback

These are two photos, both taken in Paris (by moi). These photos show two different color schemes that would go well for a DIY. Im feeling a friendship bracelet in the colors from the pictures of the meringues.

T

P.S. I would also like to note the size of the meringues, they were bigger than my sister's head.

Hi!

Hi guys,

Im new to the blogging world but I'd like to do DIY's, show inspiration for them and take a look at fashion in New York City and around the world.

Hope you like what you see!
