My Favorite Things: October 2012

Hey all,

I loooveeee October.  October is when it starts to get really nice and cold.  There is also football, halloween and so many more fall related things that I absolutely adore.

These are my favorite things for October.  I love the sparkly loafers as well as the Free People black tulip shirt.  They both will go great with anything. (I have a photo of the black shirt on a hanger down below because I didnt think this photo did it much justice). I thought I'd throw in "the Perks of Being a Wallflower" because it was a great book that I loved a lot and I needed a pop of color. :)

I really like candles too so I thought I would throw them in as well.

Woooo October!!!

P.s. If you would like to know where anything is from feel free to ask :)

Winter Wishlist

Hey guys,

The winter is a perfect time for accessorizing, thats why the best accessories are needed.  This winter I have fallen in love with a few accessories that are totally cool for the cold weather.

These glove-esq palm warmers that are quirky and easy to match with:

Hats have always been one of my favorite accessories and winter justs gives me a great excuse to wear them!

Though I dont really wear ear muffs, I've always thought they were so cool.  These are a pair I would sure be willing to invest in:

So long summer, hello winter!

My Favorite Things: September 2012

Hey guys,

These are my favorite things (more specifically, clothing) for the month! It is another one of those awkward transition months which is sometimes good but also quite annoying.  Quite annoying because you never know if you should be wearing pants or shorts, long sleeve or t shirt?

Anyway,

Weirdly enough, the oatmeal colored shirt and the aztec print shawl are old LF (the oatmeal one has about a million and one holes but I REFUSE to get rid of it), the perfume is Happ and Stahns and surprisingly has a year round type smell.  The converse are... converse and the faux plaid shirt is from Ruby and Jenna.  Lastly, the starry sweatshirt is Wildfox.

What are your favorite September clothes?

Fall/Winter Arm Party

Hey guys,

Sorry I havent been online in a while I've been super busy.
But I do have a nice arm party going on!

Thanks to iPhoto, my arm looks a tad orange in the second photo but that's alright.
Some of the bracelets are the same from the other arm party post, such as the bracelet on the far right and on the far left.  The far left Cartier bracelet just had a band change from blue to green.

Enjoy!

P.S. From left to right; Cartier, Alissa Michelle, ... (dont remember :/), Marina Ferr, friend made it for me

P.S.S. the Marina Ferr bracelet is a cutout of Manhattan!

DIY Fall-y Rope Bracelet

Hey guys,
Summer is coming to an end (tear tear) which means that certain accessories just arent useful or winter-y.  Things such as beach bags, corals/shells and a big summer staple: the fishermen's rope bracelet.  You know the one, it looks like this:

So I thought I would try to change up this bracelet by using the, what I call, cobra stitch.
1) You need to cut the string at a length where if you fold it in half it is slightly bigger than your wrist and make a standard knot towards the top but leaving space for a small loop. (as shown below)
2) Then take the right string and put it underneath the string in the middle.  Then take the left string and put it over the center string and under the right string, like so.

3) Do the same thing, but opposite (as in take the left string and put it under the center string and then take the right string and put it over the center string and under the left string)

4) Repeat these steps until your reach your desired length and tie all of the (four) strings together. (This will be the second part of your clasp).

I guess this is a pretty fall/summer thing but it was fun and easy to make. You can personalize yours by using RIT dye or making your own dye.  What I like to do is take spices or things with a vivid color and mix it into hot water then keep the bracelet in that mixture for as long as you like. But keep in mind that the color does fade out a bit.
